Hi, I'm Keely!
I think I've always been an artist at heart - it just took a while to decide that I wanted to pursue that spark. I've also always been a storyteller. I don't remember a time I wasn't acting out stories in my bedroom. As I got older I started transferring my stories to paper. Whether it's in writing, drawing, or animation, it's always a story I'm thinking about telling.
Graduated Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a BFA in Cinema with a Concentration in Computer Animation and a Minor in Illustration.
Completed Animation Mentor's character animation track. I really loved my time at AM. I learned so much about animation and met so many awesome people.
My Story
I really decided I loved animation in high school when my mom signed me up for The Animation Course. I was home schooled my whole life because we traveled a lot. I was born and raised in Brazil, but we visited family in the US regularly. I love having been around different cultures growing up. It really helped shape how I see the world.
In my free time I watch a lot of TV, read books, play video games, and draw. I've always loved stories and seeing life through other peoples lives. (In other words, I'm a big nerd lol) I blame my mom for the love of stories and film I have. She would read to me and my brother before bed every night until she read us all of the Lord of the Rings and decided her voice couldn't take it anymore. She would also watch all the behind the scenes to every movie we'd rent from the video store and show us how they were made, planting a seed of curiosity to learn more about how create things on my own.
I've always found comfort in animated movies. Here are a few of my favorites: Big Hero 6, Treasure Planet (I even have a tattoo inspired by this one), Beauty and the Beast, How to Train Your Dragon, and Howls Moving Castle (and really any other Ghibli movie).
Also a few of my other favorite movies and shows: Lord of the Rings, Firefly, The Expanse (I got into this one courtesy of my brother), Avatar The Last Air bender, Star Wars, Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and Legion.
